Here are some usability advice for how write proper emails. Why is this important? Because too much time is wasted looking through non-structured emails trying to find out if there is a meaning to the email in the first place.

• Have a goal with the email
• Use a clear and spesific subject (that reflect upon the goal)
• Have a clear structure in the email. If you say several things, make a note of it, like you would in any report. Start by what you find most important
• Consider whom it is related to when selecting the list of recipients
• Send the email as plain text
• Use attachments as little as possible, rather put a link to where the document might be reached
• Edit any quoted text down to the minimum needed to put your own content in context. (and put the response below the quoted text (see below))
• Think of how the recipient(s) might react to the message
• Don't forward any chain-letter or other SPAM

Why should you put your text below the quoted text

A: Maybe because some people are too annoyed by top-posting.
Q: Why do I not get an answer to my question(s)?
A: Because it messes up the order in which people normally read text.
Q: Why is top-posting such a bad thing?
